s you browse through this site, you should hopefully notice one thing, and that is the passion we have to create truly custom built fly rods. Assembling factory built components, mostly seat spacers and grips is fun, and looks good, but the uniqueness that a custom grip, custom reel seat spacer and a totally unique graphic/decal, thread wrap, feather inlay and trim band on YOUR rod provides us with more satisfaction than you can imagine.

Each rod that is made here contains the “soul” of the owner, and no amount of effort is overlooked in the pursuit of crafting the perfect fly rod for YOU.

Each rod is made with the attention and care that this unique instrument of perfection requires and deserves, and with much like anything we do, it’s only finished when it’s perfect! Ultimately, the rods that we craft are indented for one thing, and that is to be fished … and fished hard!

There is absolutely NO compromise when it comes to quality in our rods. Rods are crafted with the utmost care to achieve the perfect balance between penultimate performance and exceptional aesthetics.

One thing I have learnt over the years of fishing countless rods with countless clients while guiding, is that quality and performance in a hand-built fly rod cannot be replicated in an assembly-line produced factory fly rod.

Simply put, there is no parallel between our final product and any factory fly rod available on the market today!

Those that know me will understand how important my family is to me. So, with the coming of our 3rd child over Christmas, we (as a family) have decided to slow down on the rods for a while, and concentrate on getting our 2 boys' little sister off to the best possible start in life. With the new baby the dynamics of family changes a lot (we have seen this already during the pregnancy), so I will be spending as much time with the boys as possible, and also try and take them out to the streams as much as possible, a great passion for both boys already!

That means cutting down on the number of builds for the year. I will be accepting a maximum of 6 builds for the year of 2012, and this page will serve as a project update for those that commission a rod.

I'll still be making nets on the side, and completed nets will be available in the online shop from time to time, so check back regularly to see what is on offer. Completed nets can still be personalised to your requirements.
